As for the Audio anything over 100 kbs should be fine. ( Bigger is not always better here.)
As for Video I would go 150 kbs at 29.97 as a frame rate, for a 512 x 384 Xvid encode.
This should put your final file in the 233 mb range. I use auto gk but I dont have a clue if its mac able.
Cinepak = avi Divx shows as Divx

I'm trying the 512 X 384 video size and the 29.97 frame rate you suggested, Lum.

But for video quality, since these show are fair copies to begin with (typical of public domain material) I'm going with 512K. Only 150K looks crappy, making the image pixelated. That's the reason 512K is the lowest recommended preset on the program I'm using.
